Rollback a previous workplan version in Project Management

After a period of silence due to go lives of the client new articles will follow again. This one about how to rollback to a previous workplan version.

When you enabled Workplan versioning on your project or project template you'll get Working versions and Published versions of your workplan. Structural changes and scheduling will be done on the Working version and for example progress will be added on the Baselined Published version.

It may happen that in the course of time there will be a number of Published versions. It is possible to rollback to an old Published version. That Published version will become a new Working version which you can use to reschedule and republish.

To rollback perform the following actions

1) Delete the Current working version by going to your Project Home page - Tab Workplan and selecting the Maintain Versions option.

2) Select the Current working version and click on the Delete button. Confirm the deletion when being asked for.

3) A new option becomes available on the main Workplan page to create a new Working version from a Published version. Select the Published version you want to use and click on Create Working Version.

4) Define the name of the new Working version, give it a description and select a reason why you're doing a rollback.

5) The new working version is created and can be rescheduled and republished.
